Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
No striker would have scored consistently for us the way we played last year, we struggled to create clear cut chances. Had Carroll been playing in this system i think he would have had 5+ this season.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
Erh, would you select a striker than can score, or would you select one that can't?

Let me get back to you on that.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
The simple answer to a simple question is it depends on who we're playing, Carrolls form & what the d
score is in a particular match
Its fantastic having options up front
There are very few players of Carrolls type around

Sahko will be off to African Cup of Nations (if it happens) in January , Valencia may have a dip later having played in the World Cup , injuries , suspensions etc etc
Good teams need lots of players and our bench strength at the moment is (for the first time in living memory) excellent.
Fair play to Sam, like many I had Nolan down for an instant first team place but he has stuck with the guys doing the business.
Competition & being able to win games off the bench is vital in the Premiership.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
Depends what his form was like. But right now he'd definitely be coming off the bench and be expected to force his way back into the starting team.

Nice to have a deep squad for once.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
No. We are doing well and that is in no small part down to the two men up front. Their size and movement has forced the team to play a different way. In addition, the shape has changed to accommodate them and that has helped immensely too. If Carrol is up front, players who would look for a pass are going to take the 'easy' option and knock it up to him.

I think he's a good player, but on current form there's no way he could get in in front of the two up front.

We're currently winning with the players we're starting with, so no.

If that changes, then yes.

What happens if/when Valencia & Sakho get injured, lose form, are suspended or sold in January?

Might need him then eh?

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
The games not about only having 11 players is it? Better AC as backup than CFC. And if he come in and starts performing then that is great for competition in the squad.

Sell him off cheaply then were is the backup?

I'm looking forward to seeing an Andy Carroll who genuinely has to compete for his place.

Can't be a bad thing at all.
